About Alpaca Loca

Alpaca Loca is a young and innovative label that specializes in the design and production of quality alpaca wool products. We are mainly known for our luxurious and silky soft plaids and scarves. Alpaca wool is a natural, super soft fabric and has many advantages over sheep's wool or cashmere. It is hypoallergenic in that it does not contain lanolin like sheep's wool. The structure of alpaca wool is stronger than that of sheep's wool or cashmere. It fluffs much less, making it very comfortable to wear and does not sting. It is very dirt and water resistant. Thanks to the hollow fiber, it insulates very well and is wonderfully warm. It is a 100% natural product and fair trade.

The wool used for the Alpaca Loca products comes from alpacas from Ecuador. The products are all handmade in Ecuador by a community of weavers. We attach great importance to quality, tradition, integrity and social responsibility and have deliberately chosen to set up production in this way. The wool weavers receive a fair salary and we regularly see the good working conditions in the factory with our own eyes. Your purchase will directly contribute to Ecuador's economic growth and alleviate the poverty of the alpaca herders.

About Alpacas

An alpaca looks like a little llama and lives in the high plains of South America. They are social animals that live in groups. They come from the 'camelids' family and mainly eat grass. For centuries, they have been bred specifically for the unique fiber of their coat, as they are too small to serve as a 'beast of burden'. Their wool has a down-like feel and comes in 52 natural colors, so that the wool as a finished product requires little processing. Alpacas, especially their young, have the image of being one of the most adorable creatures on the planet.

About shaving

In this way, the process is animal-friendly from start to finish, which we think is very important at Alpaca Loca.

About alpaca wool

Alpaca wool is known for its super quality. Centuries ago, the wool was recognized as an exclusive product by the Inca peoples in South America. It was then only for the nobility to buy this expensive 'super wool' and have it woven.
The wool has such a high quality that it has developed over the years into a luxury product in the Western world. The natural fiber is hollow and light, easily transcending the warmth and softness of other wools. The fiber has a durable construction, so that the wool remains functional and beautiful for a long time. Because the wool does not contain lanolin, it is hypoallergenic and water-repellent.
